Donation to West Byfleet Scouts

Our 2010/2011 Chairman, Jonathan Jacobs, attended West Byfleet Scout’s AGM to ceremoniously hand over the cheque for £5000 donated last year.  He also went along to see the tents that had been purchased with the money and the Scout Hall that was in desperate need of repair which was one of the main uses of the donation.

The Scouts all wanted to be in the picture and nearly caused traffic mayhem when they shouted at the top of their voices “Five Thousand Pounds” instead of the usual “cheese”.  Woking Round Table hope West Byfleet Scouts can remain their hall for many years to come and get great use out of the equipment purchased.

2009 Summer Outing - Loseley Park

Another successful summer trip for our older members of Woking Community.  Every year using the money we raise from our Charity events we take out around 40 to 50 older Woking residents for a bite of lunch and a trip somewhere special.  This year it was lunch at Loseley Park and a guided tour of the gardens.

After having collected all our invited guests from their homes we were shipped off to Loseley House in a very comfortable Sureline coach for a wonderful two course lunch.  After much munching and shouts of yum we skipped over to the amazing garden for the guided tour past the Mulberry bush planted by Elizabeth I, around the remaining part of the moat, walled rose garden, incredible vegetable area and finally through the herb garden.  The guides tried to keep the ladies in check but at times the secret areas were too enticing for some.  Then back to the wonderful tithe barn for tea, scones and cream and the famous Loseley Ice Cream.   We hope all our guests had a lovely time and were thoroughly sated.  Next trip out, Panto in January 2010.

Big thanks to Loseley Park for the tour, Sureline Coaches for all their assistance, JMK Classic Catering for the wonderful food and service, Neil and Fiona Davidson for organising the whole day out, all tablers and members of the Woking 41 Club for helping with collections and dropping off of our guests and finally Russ Ward and the Jacobs family for helping out on the day
