What is Round Table?

So what is Round Table, well we can certainly tell you what it is not!

Round Table is:

NOT - a secret society
NOT - a funny-handshake brigade
NOT - anything to do with Rotary or the Lions
NOT - full of old fogeys
NOT - religious or political
NOT - Businessmen networking

Now that we know what it is not, let us try and explain what Round Table is.

Round Table is a social club for men aged between 18 and 45.

Round Table is all about having FUN with friends, and the number one priority of all our activities is enjoyment and fellowship.  In fact, the only limit to the type of activities that Tablers take part in, is their enthusiasm, so if there's something that you've always wanted to do then Round Table is the ideal chance for you to have a go.

Round Table has been described as a "social club with a conscience" due to the fact that whilst having fun, we also find some time to help our local community.  It's different, better than a night down the boozer and great fun. What's more, you get a real sense of belonging to something rather special, not so easy to find these days.

Round Table is the quickest way of settling into a new town and meeting like-minded people, it is a great way to make new friends and boost your social life.

Round Table started with just one man's idea. Louis Marchesi was a member of Rotary in Norwich, who decided to start a new organisation for young men.  Round Table was born with the motto 'Adopt, Adapt, Improve' and from small beginnings of one club in Norwich, Round Table has grown to approx 1,000 clubs and over 10,000 members in the UK alone.  Local Round Tables operate individually but with a common cause, and together they form The National Association of Round Tables of Great Britain and Ireland. But that's not all... Round Table has spread throughout the
world and has links with like-minded clubs internationally.

Woking Round Table was the 64th club formed in the UK, and once a year we get together for a long weekend of partying and fun with the other Number 64 Round Table Clubs from all over Europe - this is a weekend not to be missed !

Many different events are organised by individual Tables, Areas, National and International level. There are very few other ways in which you can enjoy a wider and more varied social life than as a member of Round Table

Look at it this way, if you had joined Woking Round Table this time last year then by now you could have:

- been canoeing
- been to the dog racing at Wimbledon
- drunk approx 300 pints of beer/glasses of wine (delete as appropriate)
- had a family day out at West Wittering beach
- attended the National conference weekend in Eastbourne
- been shooting at Bisley
- attended three black tie events
- helped organise the best Fireworks display in the area and raised over £14,000 for local charities
- been Go-Karting on Ice!
- been to Belgium for a cracking weekend of partying with over 100 Tablers from all over Europe
- been ten pin bowling and played lawn bowls
- helped to organise a summer rock festival
- attended the National Sporting Weekend in Nottingham
- been to a "school disco" Christmas party
- dressed up as Father Christmas and brought a smile to the faces of hundreds of local kids
- helped take 40 lovely "old dears" on two day trips
- hosted and been to numerous dinner parties
- been to a Scalextric evening
- been on a "pint to pint" cycle ride

Have you got what it takes to be a Round Tabler?
